Social Media Image Sizes Cheat Sheet 2026
Use these dimensions as starting points for preparing social images. Display crops, upload limits, and available formats vary by placement and device; a profile display size is not necessarily an upload recommendation. Preview the result in the publishing app before posting.
For a single photo going to several channels, the Creator export pack prepares feed, story, thumbnail, and pin crops together. Mark the subject once, adjust individual outputs, and download a ZIP. For marketplace listings, open the Store export pack; for square, portrait, and landscape training images, open the AI export pack.
Instagram Image Sizes
These are example crop canvases, not a complete list of supported upload formats or official minimum sizes. Feed photos, profile previews, and Reel covers can use different framing. Check Instagram's photo resolution help and Reel size guidance for your publishing workflow; the current specifications are pending verification in this guide.

Tip: A 4:5 crop leaves more vertical space than a square crop at the same width. Choose the framing that suits your subject; a particular aspect ratio does not guarantee higher engagement.

YouTube's custom thumbnail guidance, checked on September 9, 2026, recommends the resolutions above. Upload limits depend on the device and content type; consult that guidance before exporting a large file.

These are tool output sizes, not the latest recommended maximum-quality resolutions. Use Custom Size Cropper for an exact pixel target. Tip: Start with a sharp source photo and inspect the small profile preview. Increasing pixel dimensions cannot restore detail missing from the original.

Pinterest's creator FAQ recommends 2:3 images at 1000 × 1500 and 9:16 videos at 1080 × 1920. This is format guidance, not a promise of distribution. ImageCropKit crops still images; it does not export video.
X / Twitter Image Sizes

X's profile upload guidance recommends the header and profile dimensions above and limits profile photo files to 2 MB. It also warns that headers can be cropped differently across browsers and monitor sizes. Keep important text away from the top and bottom edges and check the saved profile on desktop and mobile.
Use exact-size cropping for the header and avatar. Multi-image post layouts and website preview cards are separate formats; do not treat the example post canvas as a universal requirement for them.
How to Crop Images for Any Platform
Instead of memorizing these dimensions, use a free tool to crop your images:
- Single image: Upload to ImageCropKit, choose the platform preset, adjust the crop area, and download.
